Gatton Place

The Gatton Place for the Surrey and Borders Partnership Mental Health Trust is a combination of consulting and clinical facilities for service users and a workplace for the Trust's administrative operations. Over four floors the Hub provides a reception area, clinic and 21 consulting rooms and open-plan office space. The project helps the Trust modernise its activities by bringing together into one building the many teams that had previously operated apart, and introduces a sharing of resources and space.

As part of this bold approach, the layout sets out reception and waiting area modelled on a hotel layout, creating first a pleasant environment with bespoke comfortable seating, varied lighting, books and magazines and dispensing with some of the more institutional character of other facilities. Colour-coding of upper floors assists the administrative teams in navigation: particularly important when many staff constantly move between the several centres operated by the Trust.
