Atherton Community School

This design accommodated Atherton Free School in the existing buildings of the former Hesketh Fletcher to provide a simplified layout that improved circulation routes around the building, improved the internal quality of existing spaces where possible and provided attractive external spaces.

The main entrance was retained in its current location with improved pedestrian landscaping leading to the main entrance. An enlarged reception area and a new visitor’s entrance provided a more open and welcoming experience upon arrival at the school.

An existing block was upgraded to provide a distinct sixth form accommodation. The center block currently linked to the main building was demolished to improve circulation routes.
